The Imperivm Romanvm and its system of governance

The Imperivm Romanvm is a community with the goal of creating a living, real life, community of modern Romans and restore the Via Romana by studying the past and its ideals, culture and way of life. This is because Rome, from its founding, until its fall in 2206 AVC (1453 CE), laid the groundwork, and ultimately, moulded western civilisation into what it is today. The Imperivm Romanvm strives to create a modern society built upon these ideals and the best parts of Rome to create a better future.

Projects

Imperivm Romanvm does not believe in the more passive approach some other groups are taking to restore Roman culture or to bring it into the modern world. Yet the Imperivm Romanvm does not believe in violence and does not wish to provoke such. Therefore our society believes civic and community projects are the way forward. Our main project is the Oppidum Project, the goal of which is to build a Roman settlement. Our first project on our roadmap is the Fānum Project, this is the creation of a temple in Nova Britannia (New England). We desire to educate and inform all people to create a greater world for everyone!

Roman Religion

The Cultus Deorum Romanorum (literally Worship of the Roman Gods), or the modern practice of Roman Religion (it can also be called the Religio Romana), is the attempt of ourselves and other groups to reconstruct the Roman Religion as accurately as possible, within the limits and our understanding of the modern world. The Roman Religion is entirely unique and a construct of its time and place, it is also an entirely different Religion to Greek Hellenism or modern Hellenism and cannot be approached by replacing the native names of these deities with Roman ones. To do this would be an insult to both the Cultus Deorum Romanorum and the religion you are taking from. (This does not apply to the adoption of gods or the syncretism of gods).

Via Romana

The question that probably bothers you most is: How do I be Roman? How do I become a Roman? What does it mean to be Roman? The truth is all you need to do is to apply to principles of Via Romana - the Roman Way. This is the application of all things Roman, this includes Romanitas (Roman culture, virtues and values) and Mos Maiorum, the way of the ancestors. These two are what some consider are all that is necessary to be Roman, but we take it further and include more customs and change some things that do not fit in modern, enlightened society. But once one gets the cornerstones set, they begin to become more Roman.
