The Creatio "Liber Romanus" Marii Caesar act is the proposition of a a community magazine that will be endorsed officially by the Imperivm Romanvm. The mission statement of the magazine is for the magazine to "accept [and report on] submissions from cives pertaining to Rome and everything related to it."

The Proposition Document[edit | edit source]

IR Project Suggestion: Magazine[edit | edit source]

Submitted by: T. Marius Caesar[edit | edit source]

This magazine would accept submissions from cives pertaining to Rome and everything related to it.

Potential magazine name: Liber Romanus

This magazine would be released every quarter.

A team of cives can participate in the construction, and editing of the magazine, with a separate category within the IR discord or inclusion into the IR Media server.

A website can be created for the magazine, and would link back to the main IR website.

This is another benefit for cives (they have something to write to) and IR, as this could (for those who are looking to go into academia) potentially be a test run for an organizational academic journal (should that be a project in the future).

After the 1st year of the journal, a subscription service ($0.50/$1.00 a month) could be added, which would help fund any other IR projects.

Restrictions:

  • Submissions must adhere to CMOS 17th edition citations
  • Submissions can be the following:
  • Research Essay Papers - 1,000-5,000 words
  • Book/film reviews - 300-1,000 words
  • Interviews
  • Organizational news and updates

Discussions on the proposition[edit | edit source]

  • As of the time of the act the Imperivm Romanvm would not have enough funds to fund another website for the creation of the magazine and would also not have enough funds for another domain. A response and solution to this is for the magazine to be independently hosted and created but endorsed by the Imperivm as the official magazine.
  • Senator Quintus Aelius Volusus endorsed the initial name of the magazine stating: "The name is great and I like it 'Liber Romanus' is great and really pushes the idea that this is the place where Romans should come to be unified"
  • Senators said that whether it should be Quarterly or Monthly should be up to the publisher of the magazine and should depend on the amount of content in the magazine. Also continuing to say "ideally have it [the magazine] be maybe 15-20 pages with images."
  • Senator Q. Aelius Volusus suggested using Microsoft Publisher to create the magazine.
  • Senators praised the restrictions for the reduction in chance of the magazine turning into a tabloid
  • Princeps Drusus Firmius Perusinus said he wants it to be more similar to a newsletter than a magazine

Senate Voting[edit | edit source]

After a lack of activity regarding the act, Senator Q. Aelius Volusus proposed to have a vote on the matter on the a.d. VI Id. Martias at 18:30 UTC lasting for 24 hours.
